Wakarusa of 2014 will be occurring from June 5th to June 8th. It takes place in the beautiful mountains of Ozark, Arkansas, offering a serene setting for a weekend of camping and fun. If you love music and the great outdoors, then this is one festival you can’t miss. This annual festival is one of the most popular jam-band, electronica, dub-step, bluegrass, and rock n’ roll festivals in America. Formerly hosted in Kansas, the festival has claimed new territory in Arkansas, where there will be non-stop music and entertainment for four straight days.
This year they have managed to gather some major headliners. From dub-step favorites like EOTO and Bassnectar, to the kings of jam-band like the String Cheese Incident and the Flaming Lips; this year’s festival will be one to remember. With tickets just $204 for all four days, this is one of the most economical music festivals in the U.S. They have plenty of camping available at the festival, with prices starting around $39.
They have showers available at the festival, as well as a free shuttle to take you around to the stages. There are six main stages that will be operating simultaneously, offering you a variety of musical options to choose from. Music goes all day and all night, for the nocturnal festival-goers. In addition to music, there will be vendors selling food, art, and crafts.
They also have nightly drum circles and campfires, giving you the opportunity to share your musical skills while getting to know some of the other festival goers. If you need a break from the music and crowds, you can take a hike on one of the many gorgeous trails in the Ozark region. Cool off in the serene Ozark lake, or relax with some friends at one of the many restaurants in the down town area.
With so much to do and see, this four-day weekend could shape up to be a vacation you will never forget. There are still some tickets left, but they are selling out quickly. Be sure to get yours as soon as possible so you don’t miss out. If you want to attend the festival but don’t have money for a ticket, consider volunteering. Volunteers have to work at the festival for a certain amount of hours, and in exchange they get a free pass to the entire festival. It is a great deal and well worth the time you put in.
