During the Christmas holidays, I gained a number of pounds which had accumulated from treating myself to too many tasty treats. When it got to late January, I was beginning to get a bit worried about the extra weight I had gained, because it hadn’t gone down at all. This was when I decided that I wanted to do a quick diet to lose that weight before summer rolled around; after a lot of research, I found the volumetrics diet. Here is some information on the volumetrics diet and how it could help you like it has me.

The volumetrics diet has a primary focus on controlling the volume of food that you intake, allowing you to lose weight when you feel full by not necessarily consuming your typical quantities. The way this diet works is that it mainly targets foods which are high in quantity but have less energy and fewer calories. This makes it so that the person on this diet eating the foods will feel like they are adequately full and not have the impulse to eat more food with more calories. Fruits and vegetables are the perfect candidates for this diet as they will fill your stomach without increasing your calorie intake.
When I first started this diet, I was 190 pounds; by sticking to the volumetrics diet, it guarantees you will lose one or two pounds a week. I found that by the end of the first week I had already lost 5 pounds; this diet is also very good at clearing your system. I felt that, personally, I had more chance of sticking to this diet regime more than any of the others.
I first started by going to the store and buying a couple of days’ worth of fresh fruit and vegetables. A possible downside for me is that I don’t like shopping very much but I needed to get the fresh products every few days. When I first started this diet, I actually felt a lot better and more energetic than I had been; my main issue was not being able to enjoy foods that tasted great but aren’t good for you. One of the great things about the volumetrics diet is that it doesn’t severely place any limits on your eating habits and allows you to snack.
I found that despite being on a diet, I didn’t find myself going hungry or wanting to snack between meals. The volumetrics diet resolves any cravings while keep you full of healthy food. The option to snack is always available with the regime but make sure it’s always the correct type of food and that you aren’t going over the calorie limit. The main area I found difficult was when I would watch movies with my fiancé. Since I am very used to heating up some popcorn to share, I found it hard replacing the popcorn with grapes. However, I found it a healthier alternative and it kept me on the correct path and still tasted good.
How easy is it to follow?
From personal experience, I find this diet most suitable for me as it allows me to still have free will and choose what I ‘fancy’ although I have fewer options to choose from. This diet can be broken down into three stages that I find important: fullness, convenience, and taste.
Taste is important for me because I like to enjoy my food and wouldn’t want to give up my favorites. With this diet you can make trade offs like having a slice of toast without butter because you can actually have two slices of toast for the same amount of calories. By making trade offs like this, you can still enjoy your pancakes occasionally in the morning and just skip the oils and syrup and use raspberry sauce instead. If you frequently drink milk then switching to skimmed milk can save you a lot of calories.
As far as this diet is concerned, it is very easy to follow the guidelines and eat out if want to. There are books to help with what you need to buy or what would be best to buy. The most inconvenient thing might be that you actually have to go to the shops to get what you need. If you don’t particularly like fruits and vegetables, then this diet will be a definite inconvenience for you.
The main goal of this diet was to give the participant a satisfactory meal knowing that it is completely healthy for them and filling their hunger. While on the diet, I didn’t feel hungry very often and stuck to the scheduled meals and ate low density foods which control the appetite.
The main role of the volumetrics diet is to be a food plan that doesn’t require exercise. I personally walk an hour or two each day and find that it keeps me alert and feeling good. You could try increasing your amount of daily activity just by parking further away from the store in the parking lot.
This diet doesn’t require any specific purchases or rare ingredients, just regular foods targeted specifically at fruit and vegetables as a core to this diet. There are some recommended cook books you can get such as the “Volumetrics Diet” by William Morrow. I personally don’t think you have to purchase this book to find a regime and weigh the benefits as there is a lot of information online which can help you on your way.
