I just went on one of those vacation time share workshop presentations where they pressure you into buying a time share of their property. In the end I felt trapped like I was in prison and they would not let me leave. It was very demoralizing and they made me feel like if I did not buy the time share I was a stupid idiot. In the end I was able to escape without buying one of their time shares.
Apparently they wanted me to buy the time share and I would be obliged to make payments for the most terrific vacation for the rest of my life. I did not know what my finances would be in one, ten or twenty years so I felt I could not sign a lifetime contract. This bothered all the salesmen who seemed to gang up on me.
After sitting in on their presentation and learning about all the wonderful places I could visit like Europe, Italy and Hawaii I decided this was not for me. It sounds great and the salesmen try hard to reel in the people but I did not buy.
I was told that most motels and hotels are owned by the company so when I stay at one of those places I am giving their company my money anyway so I should sign up. I figure I like to stay when and where I want and I am willing to pay when I want to stay. That way I don’t have a lifetime contract.
I was told that I could always sell my timeshare if I no longer could afford it. No not really.
My question that I have is does anyone who has one of these time shares really like it? I am sure there is and that is great. What I don’t like is the pressure to have to buy it. If I can’t have 24 hours to think about it before I sign for it I will not sign for it impulsively. If what they are selling is really a deal I should be able to think about it and not sign for it right then and there.
Before you sign a lifetime agreement to pay for a time share think about the security of your finances. Will you be able to pay for this the rest of your life? Do you always want to spend your vacation in a crowded vacation area? Do you want to go on vacation? Are you being pressured into buying this time share? Maybe you have a few questions of your own but the big one for me is. If I can’t think about it for 24 hours before signing then it is probably not a good deal and I do not want?
