We try to save money every day of our lives, but what happens when you are trying to market your novel? Marketing your novel is hard enough without the added pressure of the dreaded B word-budget. But let’s face it, in this economy any way you can save money or get the chance at free you should take it.
So where are these wonderful free marketing hot spots?
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, and Klout are just a few of the great social media sites where you can market yourself and your work. For now, it’s free, and nothing is better than free, right? Not only use these social media sites for personal accounts, author pages, but also browse and join groups of other authors.
Type in the genre of your novel and ‘reviews’ into Google and you will find hundreds, if not, thousands, of review sites offering a review in exchange for a book. Of course, you want to submit anyways for reviews since the more good reviews you have on your novel the more appealing it is to readers, but if your book is reviewed and posted on their public blogs, it’s free promotion.
While the actual sign will cost you some money, having signs on your car is a great way to promote your work while you drive around your city or town without having to fork over big bucks for flyers and cards to hand out. And if you take a trip across the country for a vacation, that’s even better promotion.
Since you can start a blog for free, a blog is a great way to get free promotion. Although, you have to remember that blogs take work. Between posting your own blog posts, to following, reading, and commenting on others to help gain you followers, a blog can take a few hours of maintenance each week.
