Planning a party can be very stressful, and it can be quite costly. Decorations can help make a party a success or failure, but they can also be the most expensive components of giving the party. I have compiled a list of low budget ideas and items to use that will make your party a sure hit.
Step Out of Your Box
Black Board Spray
Spray either a large piece of cheap plywood to cover your tabletop or spray small placemat size pieces of wood with black board spray. Put colored chalk in a bucket in the middle of the table and watch the fun begin.
Cover the table with butcher paper. Place crayons at each place setting and let your guests doodle on the paper. Drawing guests are happy and entertained guests.
Leaves can be fun and there are so many options. You can make a leaf center piece, let your guests make leaf paintings on paper using simple water colors and butcher paper, use large leafs for place mats, use leafs covered in wax as coasters…leaves can be fun and at little to no cost. Remember to gently spray or wipe them with water to remove dirt and bugs.
Sand and Sea Shells
Scatter the sand and seashells in the center of the table for the focal piece, use seas shells for name cardholders, or use sand to hold the candles in glass containers. There are endless sand and seashell options for party planners.
Branches, Ivy, and Twigs
Spray paint branches, ivy, and twigs with fluorescent silver, gold, and bronze paints. Put them around the table, on end tables, at the serving table, and woven on the back of the chairs. If you are giving a night party you will find these natural elements to be stunning. Don’t worry about bugs because the spray paint will kill them and make them a non-issue. If you want to try to use different holiday colors, that is nice also. For example, silver and blue branches, ivy, and twigs at Chanukah would be gorgeous.
All of these ideas are unique, inexpensive, and can help bring your party to a higher level. Have fun and experiment!
