Having been an honor roll student who has gone through the schooling and college process I know what it takes to get good grades on tests and quizzes, so I can maintain a certain average. What it takes to hold that average and continuously receiving those grades is studying. Many people know how to study, but what they do not know is how to effectively study. This article will provide you with the necessary tips in making sure that you understand how to study your classroom material effectively.
The first step to effective study is effective listening. You should always be attentive during classroom discussions, and even try to participate in these discussions. Participation shows that you have an understanding of what is going on in the classroom, thus allowing the material to be implanted within your mind. Always ask the teacher questions on things you do not understand. The more you advance your knowledge on the work the easier the work will be too study from.
The second step to effectively studying is taking good notes. If you participate in class but still do not understand what the material focuses on, then go home with that lack of knowledge, it will be hard to study. That is why it is good to take notes because they are a point of reference. You must not take average notes either, they must be exceptional. Make sure that you converse and discuss with other classmates about the kind of notes that they have taken down and try to implement those key areas that you had forgotten to write, down into your own notes.
The last step for effective study may seem like it is insignificant, but it is the opposite and rather important. This step calls for taking breaks in between times of studying. This is very important because you cannot spend four hours at a time studying for an Algebra test. You will never remember everything that you spent the time reviewing. That is why you should take a break, to go eat, use the bathroom, or just exercise for a little. It will make the studying process all less dull, and when you come back it will allow you study with a new found passion, which will increase your understanding of the material, thus leading to a better grade on your quiz.
In conclusion, it is not hard to study, but it is the way you study that will make it effective and lead you to receiving a better quiz grade. As long as you follow the steps given, which are to effectively listen in class, take good notes, and take breaks in between periods of study, then you should have no problem in collecting a good quiz or test grade.
