Having to find something to do is absolutely no problem when it comes to New York City nightlife. If looking for an excellent film you would like to see, this city has it all when it comes to current releases, classics, and everything in between.
An additional note to add is that most films are free of charge when you know where to look. You can go to the park if the weather is looking great, you can go indoors for traditional theater, but examples like Rooftop Films offer something different that could help you forget your fear of heights (if you have any) and possibly pique your interest for underground cinema. If the fear of heights is too overbearing I’ve included a few other options as well for extra measure.
Rooftop films is an absolutely wonderful idea if living in New York City and have been looking for something to add to a rooftop party. They offer many films to choose from (and possibly vote for) and the selection is wide enough to suite everyone. Rooftop also offers the rental of their equipment to possibly partake in your own screening on a roof of your option. Yes, Rooftop offers many different privileges to members so if interest feel free to send them a message about your interest for their service.
If safety is an issue, I also recommend Free Summer Movies in which the movies are not only ground level but the films being presented are kid friendly as well. They offer a list and location for the films in consideration that you may be dragging out the entire family (which can be a process in itself.) The films provided are not only fairly recent but they have accommodation for wheelchairs if that have become an issue for attending.
If interested in drinking (and not being on a roof or not being in a park) a great suggestion would be The Library in the Lower East Side (LES.) This is actually in a bar, you might not be able to hear the film you’re watching, but chances are you went to a bar to drink anyways and a film may have been something in the back of your mind. Why not, it’s great and how often do places have positive reviews on yelp?
If those decisions are an issue I don’t know what to tell you. You’re on a computer for crying out loud and these options are superb for any interests to fit most needs (if you have any.) Some may be unconventional but that’s what makes them so special, something different you may have never done when it comes to watching a film in an unconventional place.
