Every day, I see once robust men, who seem to have accepted the issues that come with growing older. I do not believe we have to go down with the ship of age related illnesses especially when the creator of life saw to it that the food we eat, have the ability to prevent many illnesses. Tuna fish is one of them.
The Omega 3 fatty acids in tuna help lower blood pressure, prevent clotting, and strengthen heart muscles. Tuna also aids the body in ridding itself of deadly inflammation. Research indicates that men who add tuna fish to their diets may lower their risk of heart disease by 26% because if its high protein content.
In addition to protein, our bodies need good fats, which support the brain and nervous system , make hormones, provide long-lasting energy, and transport vitamins. The saturated fat and protein that comes from meat may increase cholesterol. Tuna, also known as chicken of the sea, provides polyunsaturated fats which help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.
I can remember during high school, when my friends and I ate whoppers from Burger King several times a week. At home there were pork chops, steak and other meats that tasted good, but I did not know were not so good for me.
It as not been easy, but I have been slowly changing my diet. My wife makes tuna salad at least once a week, enough for at least 2 days. She also buys the packs of ready made tuna which are a great low calorie snack to eat on short notice.
Replacing foods with unhealthy fats, for those with healthy polyunsaturated fats is one way for men to take charge of their health, and give our bodies something to work with, rather than just allowing older age issues to rob us of our health and possibly our lives.
