The Clearwater, Florida, area is best known for its sunny beaches and delicious local seafood. It might come as a surprise, but Clearwater also offers an assortment of excellent 18-hole mini golf experiences that will surely please a family with children of all ages.
Congo River Golf, Clearwater, Florida
One of the first things you notice as you head up to the front desk at Congo River Golf is the live alligator enclosure. The adventure just gets better from there. Congo River Golf now offers a gem mining experience and an arcade. Their winding golf course takes you by wonderful waterfalls and there is so much to look at that there is even an exploration game. The objective of the game is to find all of the artifacts around the course and once you have found them all, you will earn a prize. Explorers beware; the artifacts are well hidden around the holes!
As an added bonus, Congo River Golf offers a free app for adventurers to keep score with. Gone are the days of paper score keeping, unless you want to, of course.
Smuggler’s Cove, Indian Shores, Florida
Smuggler’s Cover is a pirate themed mini golf course that also features live gators. It has exciting holes that include playing from in cave and on a pirate boat. One of my favorite features of Smuggler’s Cove is that it has landing areas around the course in case you need to take a break from the hot summer sun or allow a faster-paced group to pass.
Missing Links, Largo, Florida
Missing Links may be one of the most underrated local golf courses. It does not have the allure of any gators to feed or exploring games but it does still have your classic winding course with windmills and water features. To make up for the simpler, more traditional play, admission is quite a bit cheaper and you get a complimentary soft serve ice cream after you are done with your round of mini golf! If you prefer something other than soft serve, they do have a variety of other ice cream offerings for a reasonable price.
