Sure, Walt Disney World is home to many family friendly rides. I mean, it doesn’t get much more family friendly than a boat ride through a small world of happy dolls singing non-stop. But when you’re ready for something a little more thrilling, check out these top thrill rides at Walt Disney World.
Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
The wettest attraction at Walt Disney World, Splash Mountain start out as a leisurely log flume ride through scenes from the Disney classic Song of the South. However, the ride becomes less leisurely as Br’er Rabbit realizes he’s in trouble because he’s being followed by Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear. Things go from bad to worse when Br’er Rabbit gets caught in the brier patch and riders plummet 52 feet down to splash-tacular ending.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
As guest enter the enter the The Hollywood Tower Hotel, they walk through a once grand lobby that seem to have been deserted in a hurry. Winding down long hallways, guests come to a service elevator. Upon entering the elevator, the doors close and the elevator starts its slow, creeky journey to the top of the hotel. Along the way, riders encounter some strange things. Once at the top, the elevator grinds to a halt…. and then the terror sets it; a 13 story drop straight down.
Mission Space (Epcot)
Located in Future World at Epcot, Mission Space provides riders the chance to blast off into deep space and experience the same sensation as a real NASA astronaut. In fact, the ride was built using the same technology that NASA uses to train its astronauts. Once you pass mission control, you’ll board the spacecraft for a high-thrill adventure (complete with airsickness bags; the only ride at Walt Disney World to provide them).
Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
Board a stretch limo and hold on for your life as it blasts off from 0 to 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds! With Walt Disney World’s only inverted loop roller coaster, Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster turns riders upside down and inside out as they race through the streets of LA on their way to an Aerosmith concert. And along the way, riders are treated to classic Aerosmith hits thought an amazing sound system build into each seat.
Expedition Everest (Epcot)
On this, one of Walt Disney World’s newest thrill rides, riders board a train for a trip to the top of Mount Everest. Somewhere along the way, however, the trip gets derailed by the mysterious Yeti and it’s all downhill from there… literally. With the train’s track ripped up by the Yeti, there’s no where for the train to go except backwards and down.
