When water is in your ear, it causes discomfort. It also distorts your hearing and can cause ear infections. This can happen to anyone, especially, regular swimmers. Here are a few ways to help remove water from your ear:
A blow dryer promotes the evaporation of the trapped fluid. It will turn the fluid to steam. This will help get rid of it out of the ear. First, pull your ear lobe outward. Then, hold a blow dryer about 12 inches away from your ear. Make sure the the dryer is set on low and warm. Turn on the dryer and allow the warm air to enter directly into the ear canal. Hold it, for about 30 seconds.
A neti pot helps remove fluid in the ear. It also flushes germs out of the ear. Just add 16 ounces of lukewarm water, and 1 teaspoon of salt, to a neti pot. Then, tilt your head at a 45 degree angle. Add the saline solution to one nostril. It will travel through your nasal cavity and come out of the other nostril. Finally, blow your nose and repeat it on the other side.
Vinegar And Rubbing Alcohol
Vinegar and rubbing alcohol gets rid of fluid in the ear. They also help remove bacteria that is present in the ear. Just mix 2 teaspoons of rubbing alcohol and vinegar. Using a dropper, add 1 teaspoon of the solution into the affected ear. Then, drain the ear by turning your head to the side. This solution will help break down earwax, which could be holding water in the ear canal.
Salt Water Solution
Salt water is an effective remedy for trapped water. It also prevents ear infections and the buildup of earwax. Just add 1/4 teaspoon of salt, to a cup of lukewarm water. Make sure you mix it well, so that the salt is dissolved. Then, use a bulb syringe to add the solution to your ear. Tilt your head to drain the solution.
