Hair breakage is a problem that’s easily avoidable. The first step is identifying the problem. Keep in mind that hair shedding is normal. We should shed between 50 to 100 strands a day. However, if more than 200 hair strands are shedding, it is possibly damaged.
Usually, hair breakage is caused by damaging hair techniques or poor hair care. It can be also caused by poor eating habits. The following are ways you could be damaging your hair:
Styling Hair When Wet
Never style your hair when it is wet hair. This is because the hair is weaker and more susceptible to breakage. Use your fingers, to detangle hair. This will help minimize breakage.
Pull Hair Too Tight
If you pull your hair too tight, it causes stress at the hairline. It can also cause breakage, especially, if you wear the same style. It is best to switch up your hairstyles. Also, do not wear hair accessories that tug and pinch.
Use Heat Products Daily
Heat can damage your hair. It can dry out your strands and cause breakage. Do not use curling irons or flat irons regularly. Only use it once or twice a week. When you use it, always use a heat protectant and make sure the temperature is at 350 degrees.
You Don’t Trim Hair Regularly
If you avoid trimming your ends, they may break off. Be sure to keep your hair trimmed regularly. This will make your hair break-resistant and healthier. To remember, you may want to put it on your calendar.
