Washing your face seems like a very simple task. However, it could be ruining your skin, if done incorrectly. It can cause so many skin problems, such as irritation, dryness, or acne. To prevent future skin problems, be sure you are doing the following:
Choosing The Wrong Product
Choose a cleanser that will completely remove all dirt and makeup. At the same time, be sure it doesn’t strip away your skin’s natural oils. Never choose a product that will make your skin dry, red, or irritated.
Over Cleansing The Face
You should wash your face once or twice a day. Any more than that can irritate the skin. Believe it or not, this can lead to an overproduction of oil. Never use the cleanser at night, if you didn’t wear makeup or sunscreen. Instead, rinse the face with tepid water. This gives it a break from products.
Too Much Exfoliation
Exfoliation is very helpful to the skin. It sloughs off dead skin cells and reveals new ones. Only exfoliate 2 or 3 times a week. Choose exfoliates that are sugar scrubs and fruit acids. They are gentler on the face. Also, use your fingers when exfoliating. This prevents pulling and tugging of the skin.
Using Irritating Ingredients
Avoid irritating ingredients, such as fragrances or colorants. Also, never use products with synthetic preservatives, such as parabens. Products containing sodium lauryl sulfate, commonly cause irritation and allergic reaction. So, always read ingredient labels, and choose wisely.
