Video games have quickly climbed the ranks of becoming a multi-billion dollar industry. We either play video games ourselves or know somebody who does, either way video games are every where, and admittedly very entertaining.

#10. Wii Play – (28.02 million copies sold)
Wii Play was released in 2006 for the Wii and sold over 28 million copies. The video game, which was published by Nintendo featured nine different mini games which involved using the motion sensed remote to perform physical activities or virtual sports.
#9. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – (28.5 million copies sold)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, and sold over 28 million copies. The video game was a first-person shooter developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It received a very impressive score of 94% on metacritic.
#8. New Super Mario Bros – (30.38 million copies sold)
New Super Mario Bros was released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS and sold over 30 million copies. The video game was the last side-scrolling platform game to feature Mario since Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. The plot is similar to the older versions where you guide Mario from side-to-side, jumping on turtles to rescue princess peach from Browser.
#7. Wii Sports Resort – (31.89 million copies sold)
Wii Sports Resort was released in 2009 for the Wii and sold over 31 million copies. Wii Sports Resort is a sports themed video game developed and published by Nintendo. The video game features a collection of twelve sports games similar to Wii Play. It received a great score of 80% on metacritic.
#6. Grand Theft Auto V – (32.5 million copies sold)
Grand Theft Auto V was released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and sold over 32 million copies. The video game was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The video game takes place in a fictional city called San Andreas which is based on Southern California. The free roam action-adventure game involves you doing tasks, mainly violent in reward for cash.
#5. Mario Kart Wii – (35.26 million copies sold)
Mario Kart Wii was released in 2008 for the Wii and sold over 35 million copies. The video game was developed and published by Nintendo and is the sixth installment of the Mario Kart series. Like the title suggests the video game involves Mario and his friends racing around various tracks while picking up weapons and power-ups from random item generating boxes conveniently placed in the middle of the road.The video game received an awesome score of 82% on metacritic.

Super Mario Bros was released in 1985 for the NES and sold over 40 million copies. The video game was developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo. It was the first of the Super Mario series of games to be created.
#3. Minecraft – (49.3 million copies sold)
Minecraft was released in 2009 for the Pc, and later the PlayStation 3, Xbox, and smartphone. The video game sold over 49 million copies altogether. The video game was originally developed by a programmer in Sweden named Markus Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. Minecraft is a sandbox indie style game that allows the player to create constructions out of textured cubes.

Wii Sports was released in 2006 for the Wii and sold over 81 million copies. The video game was developed and published by Nintendo as a sports themed game. The video game was the first of Nintendo’s series of sport activities that involved the use of it’s motion-sensing Wii Remote. The video game included activities such as tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing.
#1. Tetris – (143 million copies sold)
Tetris was released in 1984 for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, NES, and mobile phone. The video game sold over 143 million copies altogether. It was originally designed and programmed by a man from the Soviet Union named Alexey Pajitnov and later published by Spectrum HoloByte. The video game was the first entertainment software to be exported from the USSR to the US. The objective of the game is rotate the the falling 4 squared tetrominoes so that they form a horizontal line at the bottom of the screen which then grants you points.
