As swimsuit season approaches, the realization you may have gained a few pounds of winter weight will hit you. I live in South Florida, but even I have put on a few extra inches during this cold winter.
Try these two exercise sets to tone your legs, abs, and arms. All you need is a chair with a straight back and twenty minutes a day. I even did these exercises at work one day, though I did get a few odd looks.
Drive that Bus and Car
Sit on the edge of the chair with your feet firmly on the ground. Have them spaced shoulder width.
Put your hands in front of you as if you were driving a car. As you move your imaginary wheel, make sure to work you stomach side to side. You should feel the action in your sides.
Now lean back in the chair but do not touch it with your back or shoulders. Slowly come forward and increase the width of your wheel. Think that you are now driving a bus with a big steering wheel.
This is a simple exercise that you will really feel around minute five. You may not make it to ten minutes the first time. Your arms will feel the pain also.
While still seated in your chair, stretch your legs out straight in front of you. Now lift them off the ground about six inches and begin to draw the alphabet with your legs. If doing two legs at one time confuses you, do one leg five minutes and then the other leg five minutes.
You may feel silly at first, but when you are about mid-way through the third time of the alphabet, you will feel your leg muscles working. And the different letters work different parts of your leg.
These are the two easiest exercises you will ever do, but they are extremely effective for toning. As with any new exercise routine, you should check with your doctor first to get clearance. Before you know it, you will be toned and ready to put on your swimsuit!
