Vegetables are good for you and the more you get used to eating them the better tasting they become. If you are not used to eating a lot of vegetables you may find them hard to enjoy. Kids especially can be difficult to get to eat their vegetables. Here are some ideas to help you enjoy your vegetables and get your kids to enjoy them as well.
Steamed vegetables are good for you nutritionally but for some people they are hard to choke down. You can add some butter or grated cheese to your vegetables to help give them more flavor. Then if you would like you can put less butter or grated cheese on the vegetables every time you eat and serve them and eventually you may be able to eat your vegetables without extra additives.
On days when are eating spaghetti with marinara sauce add a cup or two of spinach leaves to the sauce as it cooks. This may seem like a lot of spinach but the spinach cooks down and you hardly notice it is there.
Next time you are making mashed potatoes add some cauliflower to the potatoes as they are cooking and mash them into the potatoes. The added cauliflower will add nutrition to your meal without your kids knowing they are there.
If you are making hamburgers for dinner add some mashed vegetables to the hamburger meat before you form it into patties. Add finely grated carrots, zucchini or potatoes to the meat before you form it into a patty. You can also add finely grated vegetables to meatloaf or meatballs.
You can make a side dish of corn, peas or beans tastier and more appealing by adding butter to them. Add a teaspoon of butter to your side dish of vegetables and you can add flavor to them. Your kids may be more willing to eat there vegetables this way.
Many people like the taste of dip. You can make a dish of vegetables and place a bowl of dip with them. Then you can dip the vegetables into the dip before you eat them. It is one way to play with your food and eat healthy at the same time.
You can add melted cheese to your vegetables to make them more appealing. It is not as healthy for you as eating your vegetables plain but it is better then eating no vegetables at all. Just pour some melted cheese over the vegetables and enjoy.
