A meal is more appealing and interesting if it looks good. A little decor on a plate will help make a meal tastier and anyone can do it. Even a simple dinner like macaroni and cheese can be more delicious on a good looking plate.
The plate you use should be a pleasant color. White is very attractive while a bright yellow may not be so appealing. White can be used with any dish and it looks attractive. The shape of the plate can add interest too like a square, oval or rectangle shaped plate.
The decoration on the plate should go along with the food that is being served. A piece of kale or chopped red cabbage can add color while being pleasant to eat. A radish that has been cut to look like a flower adds a splash of red and white to dinner plates.
Flowers are very pretty on a plate. A carnation or a marigold placed on the side of the plate can add color and pizzazz. Place the flower on a bed of chopped cabbage or kale and it can look like the flower is in a garden.
A steak, pork chop, or piece of chicken can look nicer with a drizzle of sauce zigzagged over the top of the meat. Have a large lettuce leaf underneath or a piece of parsley on the side for added greens. Instead of the sauce you can put a sprinkle of sesame seeds on the meat.
Breakfast dishes can have pieces of fruit on the edge for color and decor. A small pile of berries on top of a mint leaf can look appetizing. Or a simple slice of pear, apple, pineapple or peach can be a tasty after breakfast treat. Put powdered sugar and berries on top of a pancake, waffle or French toast for a beautiful looking breakfast plate.
Dessert dishes are fun to make look pretty. Depending on the dessert there are many ways to make the dish appealing. Chocolate pie, cake or cookies can have a drizzle of chocolate sauce over the dish. A strawberry on the side can make it snazzy and add a small amount of a healthy food. A curl of chocolate or a sprinkle of jimmies on the top can add an interesting touch.
Fruit pies can have interesting shapes in the crust like tiny hearts, shamrocks or diamonds. A tiny decorative plop of cream with a berry on top adds flavor and beauty to desserts.
