If you have heard about global warming and are now worried about what is going to happen to the world now that it is getting warmer, fear not, there are some things you can do to put your mind at ease. It might be hard to convince yourself that things are going to be ok, especially since global warming could spell the end of the world as we know it, but you cannot cure this problem by yourself. And worrying about it will only stress yourself out leaving you less fit to do something about it.
The first thing you should realize about global warming is that it may or may not exist. We cannot tell definitively if it is caused by man or if it is a natural cycle that earth goes though. Remember the cretaceous period was much hotter than it is now. And we went through an ice age after that, and then another much smaller ice age just before the time of Stradivarius. In fact in the 1970’s the television show “In Search Of…” staring Leonard Nemoy described a fear that in the near future another ice age would cripple earths northern areas and reduce them to cold frozen wastes.
Now, you should still be a little on edge about global warming, due to its possibilities of being real. But you can do your part to stop it, should it turn out to be real. First, cut down your use of automobiles, Use public transportation, bicycles and walking to get around as much as possible. Also try to trade your inefficient automobiles for smaller more efficient cars and trucks. You will find that doing this will not only help save the world, but more importantly save your pocket book.
Another thing to remember about global warming is that people are extremely adaptable. Not only that, but there are already plans to start colonizing Mars. Sure our offspring may be living in bio-domes in the future, looking at the sun through a protective polymer dome above their city, but that is not a tragic fate. In fact that can be seen as an exciting promise for the future.
No matter what happens, keep yourself busy. You may be worried about the future, and that is completely normal, but you do not have to dwell on it. Keep yourself busy and try not to think about it. Do what you can, But beyond that, do not worry.
