If you have ever had to do a job you did not like, you are not alone. Around the world there people who absolutely detest their job but have to stick with it do to bill piling up or the lack of a job market available to get a new job. Working a job you hate can give you low self esteem, make you depressed. There are ways to get around this though. And you might want to start using them.
The first thing you want to do if you are stuck in a job you hate is to find something other then employment to makes you happy. Whether it is a simple collection like stamps or bottle caps, or going and playing cards, you need to find a hobby. Try to pick an activity that does not cost a lot of money, it’s a horrible thing to worry about finances all the time, but try to have fun while spending as little as possible. If however you need to buy something to make you happy you may need to. Treating yourself can make you forget your problems.
Try to make your job as pleasant as possible. Remember that everything is just temporary. No matter how permanent or long term it may feel. Sometimes you need to look about you, dress up your office or workspace any way that you can. Sometimes this can get you into a good mood.
Remember jobs you have had in the past. Try to compare their worst parts. Remember, you might be romanticizing the memories of your past jobs. Try and remember your worst days and compare them to your new job. You might actually be regretting that you are stuck in the job, and not that the job itself is horrible.
Start looking for a new job, do not put much effort into it, as this can add stress, but thinking of it like escaping from a prison. Day by day you look for a way out sending in your resume the way a prisoner scratches a tunnel to the outside world with a spoon. This can give you a feeling of hope and optimism, and most importantly a feeling that you are slowly bettering your life.
Remember that things change. Your current job might start to get better any day, as long as you keep at it and work hard to make it so. Just be careful that you are not doing to much. Try to conserve your energy to make it both through the day, and to have energy for yourself when you have time off.
