We have been married for 8 years now, and it has been both blissful and bumpy. We were married on September 12, 2005, and as part of our honeymoon, we had taken a vacation; well, the vacation was about four months after marriage, and it was to visit my sister and her husband who were also newlyweds and to sight-see the city they were staying in, but nevertheless, it was the first trip away from home with just the two of us. I know it can be an exciting trip as newlyweds or as couple — and it was for us.
Make decisions together – When we had decided to take a break from our work and take a vacation, we contemplated different locations. Ultimately we decided to travel to meet my sister and her husband and we made that decision together. Do not impose where you want to go on your partner or significant other. Make decisions together. That way, even if the trip is a flop, you do not end up placing blames on each other and you can take the fall together. If the trip turns out to be more than awesome, you both can revel in the fun and excitement you had. So it is a win-win.
Pick some alone time – Even though we traveled to meet my sister, we had a whole itinerary planned for us just to roam the city and have fun as a couple. We did tag along with them for some events but mostly we kept it romantic by spending time alone and going out and eating good food and sightseeing.
Do fine dining – There is nothing more romantic and make your wife feel more beautiful and precious than taking her out for some fine dining. Choose some expensive restaurant offering delicious food and with some candlelight settings and good music and wine, it will be the best first date after your marriage. You and your partner would enjoy the food and the ambience and will never forget the trip.
Shop – When you are on your first vacation, be sure to bring back some memorabilia from the trip, such as a souvenir or such. Also take lots of pictures. These things would always help you remember the trip and the wonderful time you guys had as a couple. Eight years gone, we still talk about the trip we took to visit my sister and the good times we had.
