As a health enthusiast, I have discovered that taking precautions and eating right are the best way to remain healthy. Even so, I have a very dear friend who suffered a stroke and was horrified that a life of eating right and daily exercise wasn’t enough. So here are those all-important tips for preventing stroke.
1). The first tip is the most obvious one. Blood pressure is the thing to watch for preventing stroke. This goes double if a person is a “type A personality type.” If things get to a person, then the odds for a stroke increase greatly. So, the best way to prevent it from day one, is to watch the blood pressure.
2). Next is to watch the heart rate. Sometimes, according to the National Stroke Association is to watch for atrial fibrillation. This is that strange thing that makes a person feel light headed and winded. If this symptom occurs, then it is past time for going to the doctor. Prevent it by going to annual doctor visits and monitoring that heart rate.
3). This one is a no-brainer. Nobody should ever smoke. I have been saying this for years, but still, I hear from friends that say that smoking is too good to stop. I find it really hard to believe, and know that, according to the CDC, the odds of a stroke increase by 87% when a person is a smoker. So stop it already.
4). Everyone should watch alcohol consumption. Too much increases the odds as well and can have other problems that derive from too much consumption.
5). Cholesterol levels are just as important as the blood pressure is. So it is always best to have that checked when the doctor says it’s time. Eating right does help with this one.
If followed carefully, these tips can help prevent stroke. Just a life of eating right and exercise isn’t enough. Instead, it is always best to work hand-in-hand with a doctor to monitor the blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Heart irregularities are important too.
