First dates are exciting and riddled with anxiety. The rush of a possible romance combined with curiosity is almost overwhelming. Still, there are boundaries on a first date. It is about getting to know them, not creating conflict. These are three topics to avoid while on a first date. You can always discuss these topics at a later date bringing them up too soon will only create distance. Clearly that is not what you are hoping for on your first date.
1. Your Ex/Their Ex
If the relationship matures, the conversation about ex’s is bound to happen. Although the first date is not the place to embark on this discussion. It will only make you appear hung up and breed concerns.
Most people dating are looking for commitment. That is perfectly fine. Still, on a first date bringing up marriage is little hasty. Enjoy the time you are spending with this person. Figure out if you are interested before jumping into such an intense topic.
Bringing up bank accounts on a first date makes you appear to have ulterior motives. Also, bragging about your money is played out. Indulge in authentic conversation, make a connection based on something more substantial than funds.
