As important as your shirt and pants are to making your outfit stand out, guys, the accessories you add to it can make or break it. Accessories are the delightful sprinkles on your sundae, with the right ones used in the right ways making the sundae very attractive.
But picking what works can be difficult. The wrong accessory can make you the butt of jokes all around you, and can be hard to live down in some social circles. Here are a few that work with just about anything.
The Ironic Tie
Wearing a tie when the outfit doesn’t really demand it is one trend that has stuck around for quite a while. There are good arguments for both using a ‘real’ tie, and for using a clip-on, but personally I much prefer the ‘real’ tie option. This allows for you to adjust it throughout the day, or even comically using it during conversation. Clip-ons portray a comic personality, someone who doesn’t take themselves seriously. It’s also easier to put on, not having to know how to tie a tie.
Another similar trend that is emerging is the use of bow ties. These ones, however, you want to only use with button-up shirts, as using them just around your neck can be seen as a reference to certain male entertainers, and that is not usually attractive. Unique and fun patterns for the different ties can make wearing them a possible conversation starter.
Paracord accessories really first became popular as bracelets, however now you can get innumerable different accessories with paracord base. Paracord is a thin but strong rope used in parachuting, and is popular because of its potential use in emergencies. Paracord bracelets are still the most popular form that these accessories come in, but necklaces and even gloves are being seen more and more. You can even make these accessories yourself putting your own personality into the design and look of the accessory.
In the first few half of the 20th century, a guy walking around town in a nice clean fedora was the epitome of class. That sentiment is returning today, without the dress requirements for the rest of the body. Fedoras and other vintage hats also are similar to ties in that they are becoming available in many unique patterns that can be conversation starters, from the wild to the comical.
