Veggie juice is all the rage to some people, while others seem to hate the idea of drinking a vegetable. When they want juice, they want the nice, natural sugar flavor that you just can’t get from other drinks.
As someone who is not a huge fan of vegetable juice, I have found a way to get my veggies, while still enjoying my fruit juice, as well. While many consider juice to just be the extracted liquid from said vegetable, I have a broader sense of the term.
While this is a great method to get the juice, you lose a lot of valuable nutrients this way. I would much rather blend to get my juices. This method not only saves you time, but also money, as straight juicing can require a lot of vegetable for a little juice. All of these drinks can simply be made with the ingredients and a blender.
Banana Avocado Smoothie w/ Spinach.
Banana and avocado just go together oh so well. The thick, almost creaminess of these ingredients makes a wonderful smoothie when brought together. The banana flavor is the dominant flavor here, but the subtle hint of avocado is quite good. Spinach is added for the health benefits. Spinach is a good addition to any smoothie, as it is great for you, and does not effect the flavor in practically any way.
1 Medium Banana
1/2 Medium avocado
8-10 leaves of Spinach
8 Ice Cubes
1-1.5 Cups Low-Fat Milk or Yogurt
Orange and Carrot Slushie
These two ingredients not only make a great looking smoothie. They also make a great tasting one. This is a drink that can be made into a slushie by adding a natural juice, be it orange juice, apple juice, or even coconut water. If one wanted to make a smoothie out of these ingredients they can simply sub that for low fat milk or yogurt again. I recommend belending this one for a little longer than a normal smoothie, as the carrots can take a little bit more time to break down.
1 Medium orange.
1 Small Carrot, cut up
1-1.5 cups Natural Orange Juice (can be subbed for other juice or milk)
8-10 Ice Cubes.
Jolly Green Giant
This concoction will taste like a delicious apple drink, but add spinach, and celery to add not only more, great green flavor, but also some great health benefits.
1/2 Green Apple
8-10 Leaves Spinach
1 Celery Stick
1.5 Cups Apple Juice
12-15 Large Ice Cube
(optional) 1 Mint Leaf (for garnish)
