Pigeon Forge, TN is located just outside Gatlinburg, TN and offers a good deal of entertainment for visitors. This small town was once just a small town that visitors just passed through to get to Gatlinburg, but now it offers a nice variety of attractions for families vacationing in the Great Smokey Mountains.
Dollywood is probably the largest attraction in Pigeon Forge and as the name implies, opened by country music legend Dolly Parton. The theme park is filled with rides suitable for a family, along with rides specifically for younger children also. You will also be able to enjoy various music shows featuring country and bluegrass artists.

Dolly’s Homecoming Parade takes place on May 2, 2014 and you can watch the parade kick off with Dolly as the Grand Marshall leading the parade on the very first float. The parade will also feature marching bands, equestrian groups, local entertainers and musicians, and much more!
Celebrating America with the Patriot Festival
Pigeon Forge throws a big party to celebrate the nation’s freedom on July 4th of each year. This celebration is called the Patriot Festival and it is held in Patriot Park. The celebration is free for all to attend and features live concerts from local musicians, food, and games for all. The festival is capped with a huge fireworks display after dark that is synchronized to music. It’s a beautiful show with the Great Smokey Mountains in the background.
Theaters and Shows
You will also be able to attend some of the many fine performances in the one of the theaters in Pigeon Forge on a nightly basis. These shows include concerts by bluegrass, country, gospel, Motown and classic rock and roll. You may also get so see some of the best cloggers in the nation, ballroom dancing or even get to see an old fashioned hoedown. Pigeon Forge also has several dinner theaters where you can enjoy your dinner while watching and listening to the entertainment.
We can’t leave out shopping, as all women love to shop! Pigeon Forge is the home to over 300 shops which are either specialty shops or outlet stores. You will be able to browse for good deals or shop for gifts to bring back home for friends and family.
