The Bible gives some specific verses on how to live a longer life. This easy to follow guide contains three verses that are thought provoking. All of these verses were taken from the King James Version. There are many other verses and translations in the Bible to gain more knowledge on how to have a longer life. Have an open mind when studying the Bible and use some common sense to practice what is laid out in its pages.
Honor Your Father And Mother
Exodus 20:12 says “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.” This makes a lot of sense. I remember as a child that my Mother would tell me to eat my vegetables, don’t play in the street, and give other advice to help me have a longer life.
There are exceptions, but most parents teach their children ways to have a longer and better life. Respect is a synonym for honor. Just practicing respect for your father and mother and abiding by rules will lead to a longer life. Kids that play in the street and do not eat right often learn the hard way they would have been wise to honor what their parents said.
1 Kings 3:14 says “And if you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” God has even more advice laid out for you in the Bible then your parents could ever come up with. This Bible verse in 1 Kings promises a longer life. However, read a bit more of the Bible and receive some more long life tips.
Just reading the Ten Commandments here in Exodus 20 will give some good advice for a longer life. Notice “You shall not murder” is just one of the commandments. Those who murder probably will have revenge against them and live a shorter life. Read the other commandments and see if a longer life might happen if they were followed.
Don’t Be Wicked
Proverbs 10:27 says “The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.” Go back to the Ten Commandments and you might find they are in the three verses given here. Honor your father and mother is the fifth commandment, and God says to have no other Gods before him in the first commandment.
Read all Ten Commandments and you will discover how to avoid being wicked. Now sometimes the Bible can seem complicated and offer heated discussions even in Bible study groups. The three verses given here state very clearly your days will be prolonged. Read the Ten Commandments for further instructions and tips. That sounds pretty simple to me.
