I love to take a traditional food and switch it up to something completely unexpected. Deviled eggs are the perfect food for experimentation. So much can be done with them. I suggest you try a few of my ideas.
Basic Egg Recipe
My mother never added a bunch of items to her Deviled eggs, she always kept it simple. I use her basic recipe and then embellish.
A dozen eggs hard boiled (about 10 minutes)
Two teaspoons of mayonnaise
A tablespoon of mustard
Mix the mustard and mayonnaise with the boiled egg yolks. Salt and pepper to taste. The mixture will be a bit dry, but remember, you are adding more ingredients. You can always add more mayo or mustard if you like.
Add the yolk mixture to the scooped out egg whites (split diagonally)
I love sweet peppers, green peppers, pepper flakes, and jalapeno peppers. The good news is that all of them work well with deviled eggs. You can use any of my peppers in the yolk mix or you can add them as a garnish.
Bacon and Eggs (Deviled)
I love bacon. It goes with everything. Add cooked bacon to either your yolk mix or as a yolk topping.
Steak and Eggs (Deviled)
I like to add cooked steak chunks(filet) and grilled onions to my yolk mixture. Steak, onions, and eggs are the perfect combination. You will love this protein packed snack.
Add maple syrup or any pancake syrup to your egg yolk mixture. The unexpected sweet flavor is delicious and quite unique. One teaspoon of the syrup is enough for the Deviled eggs.
Open your refrigerator and add the first thing you see to your Deviled eggs. Experiment and find recipes you love. And enjoy them!
