It’s a slow news day, so finding new things to write about took over an hour. In the course of my search, I found a lot of things that, well, were weird. This includes a website that will literally take you via one click to a lot of useless websites. I didn’t know there were so many.
Writing is very fulfilling but it is also hard work. Not only do we have to come up with different ideas we have to carefully sift all of the information we find to make sure it’s accurate. There are some sites that are honestly trying to help but the person or people who made them don’t know as much on a topic as they think they do.
We also learn which sites to avoid rather quickly. Sometimes it’s because an editor doesn’t approve of the site and at other times the wording in the description gives us a hint before we click out of the search engine.
Then there are the sites that say they’re about a topic of interest but when you get to it, the content is not anywhere near what you are looking for. Even though I’m by myself when I’m writing, I blush and can’t click out of them fast enough.
It’s not all bad. Even sites that don’t talk about a subject in the manner I think they should can be highly amusing. As an example, if I were to research passive/aggressive behavior, I might run across this site.
The funniest part of this is that I’m still clicking. I spend time on stumbleupon.com and one of the sites I stumbled upon was one that redirects to their idea of a useless website at the click of a mouse. Most of them are totally useless. Some are tasteless and others are just plain weird.
So, if you are looking into any sort of job (or class) that involves being on the internet for hours at a time, you may discover some of the sites I’m talking about. If you have children that go on-line, this is why parental controls (and a parent present in some cases) is wise advice. There are a lot of crazy people in the world and some of them have the ability to make websites…
