The upcoming DC Comics television series “Gotham” may take place in the world of Batman, but it is more the story of the city of which Batman becomes the protector. It is also the origin story of Commissioner Jim Gordon, who starts out here as a detective. With that said a lot of fans are really interested in who might appear on the show that later appears in the Batman universe.
Already mentioned appearing from the start is The Riddler, Catwoman, The Penguin and Poison Ivy, and the latest news is that director Danny Cannon wants to add Mr. Freeze. Of course, these characters are all early versions of the villains that they become – The Penguin as a low level mobster and Catwoman as a teenager. That means that Mr. Freeze will likely be the doctor that he is before his wife develops cancer and he turns into a villain.
With those characters already possibly appearing, here is a look at other characters that could appear on the “Gotham” TV series.
First of all, the villains in “Gotham” were heading to Arkham Asylum way before Batman ever showed up, so it is obvious that someone like Dr. Jonathan Crane could exist during the time frame of this television show. Now, the villains aren’t supposed to actually be the villains comic fans know about after Batman shows up. This means that Crane could be an up-and-up psychologist just starting to get around to testing his controversial theories.
Ra’s al Ghul
A lot of online complaints focus on the age of Bruce Wayne in the show, which is around 12, compared to the age of his future villains, which are mostly all adults at this time. That problem can’t occur when it comes to Ra’s al Ghul, who is not only much older than Bruce but is over 600 years old based on his main origin story. There is no reason he can’t appear in the “Gotham” TV show
The origin story of The Joker is still a mystery. While there are many stories about who he is and where he came from, many of those stories are lies. As a result, there isn’t much of a chance to see The Joker in the “Gotham” TV show, but there can be a character that the show can hint might become The Joker. Or maybe the show could even have multiple characters and leave it open to which one becomes the Clown Prince of Crime.
