Up in the northern part of Wisconsin sits the town of Washburn,Wisconsin where you can find The Steak Pit. The Steak Pit is a fantastic restaurant that sits on the shores of Lake Superior.
I was able to dine there just after Christmas so the restaurant still had lovely Christmas decorations up. Along with the Christmas décor they still had the regular yearly décor. Metal art is exhibited in the dining area and a colorful fountain is there for you to enjoy as you dine. Metal fish sculptures look as though they are swimming across the room and the restaurant lights dance on the metal for added dimension. Everywhere you look in this restaurant you can find something interesting to look at.
We were seated at a pleasant table right by the window looking out at Lake Superior. A water glass filled with ice water and warm rolls were served right away. We were there on a quiet night so there was only one other couple there but the waitress said they were usually very busy.
The menu had many choices for dinner and I had a hard time picking out just one. The restaurant has steaks, barbequed ribs, pizza, chicken and seafood. Eventually I decided to have the Whitefish since a lot of whitefish is caught in Lake Superior. It was done to perfection and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
It was a dark winter night when I was there so I thought the lake may not be too exciting to look at but I was wrong. I was seated by one of the large windows looking out at Lake Superior and I could see the lights of the cities across the lake from where I was. The lights were warm and friendly adding a lot to my dining pleasure.
Parking was very nice at The Steak Pit. A level parking lot with plenty of space is right by the door so you do not need to walk far. The entryway into the restaurant is easy to access and a coat rack and bathrooms are nearby.
On a warmer day you can sit outdoors on the patio as you dine. Outside you get a great view of Lake Superior and you can feel the lake air and breeze.
The restaurant has a 70’s feel to it and I felt the food excellent and worth the price.. If you would like to know more you can go to http://www.steakpitwashburn.com/.
