The Avengers are known far and wide as Earth’s mightiest heroes. The team has seen many lineup changes and faces countless foes. In 2012, Joss Whedon brought The Avengers to life. These actors were perfect choices for their respective roles. You may know that they’re all respected thespians but did you know Earth’s mightiest heroes sing?
Robert Downey Junior not only sings as a pass-time but is an accomplished musician. His album, The Futurist, features emotionally driven and powerful lyrics alongside his raspy and jazzy voice. Songs such as Broken and Man Like Me became hits among fans. Downey has also sang on many of his past film and television projects, including Allie McBeal. Admittedly, Man Like Me is one of my personal favorite songs.
I first heard Jeremy Renner sing in Love Comes to the Executioner. In one scene, just beforeh is character is put to death, he sings a rendition of American Pie. I later heard his other musical work. His vocal range is phenomenal and he also plays piano. The actor admits to writing music quite a bit and has performed some of it live on various talk show segments.
Scarlette Johansson’s studio album, Anywhere I lay My Head, features her deep and powerful voice along with appropriate backing tracks. While her music isn’t much my taste, her voice is absolutely lovely. I’d never have imagined the actress could sing at all, let alone this well. She is actually quite the accomplished musician.
I’ve only ever heard Mark Ruffalo sing on one occasion. The film The Second Day of Christmas was airing on the Lifetime channel when I hear his voice. He carries a tune quite well and even plays the piano in this particular scene in which he confesses his love for Trish.
Chris Evans’ voice may not be as amazingly powerful as Robert Downey Junior’s however, he has quite a nice voice and is more than expected from the actor. He can be heard singing in Not Another Teen Movie, one of his first roles (and a rather funny film itself).
Earth’s mightiest heroes may someday break out in a musical number to stop an evil doer. Seriously, The Avengers have quite a large sum of vocal talent among their ranks. When Nick Fury was seeking out the best heroes to join the team, he must of had musical abilities as a category.
