It seems like only yesterday that Ryan Star advanced onto the music scene, singing ever so sweetly and defiantly to sold-out audiences around the nation in venues of all sizes, both indoor and outdoor.
Fans have continued to follow the flavorful musical artist no matter where his tours take him. The singer/songwriter always draws reference to his hometown of Brooklyn, New York, his inspiration and his current home. He sings with raw emotion and a very powerful passion for life. The words of his songs have deep and poignant meaning. One of his hit songs, ‘Stay Awhile’, was not only a Billboard hit but also made him an overnight success. Known for his alternative rock sound and sometimes compared to another brilliant artist, Frank Ocean, Star enjoys, first and foremost, connecting with his audiences through his music.
The artist began this year on a very positive note and the momentum has not let up yet. If you turn on your radio, you are sure to hear his newest hit, ‘Impossible’, at least once over a period of a few hours. Ron Ross, Sirius Radio’s ‘The Pulse’ morning disc jockey, is thrilled with the resurgence of Ryan Star. Ryan describes his newest album, ANGELS + ANIMALS, in the following manner. “It’s autobiographical,” he says. “I gave only the most raw, most honest version of myself on this record. It’s primal in that sense. It starts with an apology and takes us on a man’s journey to become his best self for the woman he lives for. We are all a bit angel and a bit animal, we do the best we can.” If you listen carefully to the words of one of the most popular tracks, ‘Impossible’, you can surmise that a relationship is on the brink of breakup, with one of the individuals wishing for another chance and apologizing for their faults.
As a special way to say thank you to all his fans and introduce the newest album, Ryan Star gave an energetic live performance at New York’s Bowery Ballroom to a sold-out crowd, once again. It is admirable just how much Ryan has accomplished in his career up to this point. His music has been heard in the theater in movies such as ‘P.S. I Love You’ and on television shows such as ‘The Vampire Diaries.’
Not only is the artist musically inclined, but he is culturally savvy and a great fan of fashion as he appeared front row and center at New York Fashion Week taking in the Nicholas K., Gilded Age and GUESS fashion presentations. Ryan Star has recently been featured in InTouch, Us Weekly, PMc Magazine, NY Daily News, Rachael Ray Show, VH 1, and Long Island’s own Newsday . Billboard calls Ryan’s music a “Bright power-rock anthem, which by itself offers plenty to send an inspirational message home.” You couldn’t ask for any more of a rave review.
Speaking of music and Brooklyn, on April 10, 2014, Ryan’s hometown hosted the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction Ceremony a t Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. It was a star-studded evening and the new inductees to the Hall of Fame are Nirvana, KISS, Hall & Oates, Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam), Linda Ronstadt and Peter Gabriel. The event was marked by the appearances and performances of other great artists such as Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, Joan Jett, Emmylou Harris, Lorde and R.E.M.’s own Michael Stipe. The late Kurt Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, and his mom took to the stage to remember an artist that left us too young.
So, as you can see, there is a very deep appreciation for the meaning of music and the talent that stands behind it. One day in the near future, we may witness Ryan Star being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well. It is easy to see that Ryan lives a very fulfilled life and is a perfect example of how dreams really do come true. He remains forever thankful to all of his many fans.
