With the 99% barely surviving the “Party of No’s” tactic of obstructing legislation that will help our masses is reprehensible. We discussed this in an earlier article “The GOP Has Abdicated Its Role as Legislators.”
In Christianity we all told that even the dependent birds will be provided for-consequentially we shouldn’t worry about our survival. In Matthew, 6 verse 26 “Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?”
My wife feeds the birds. We noticed that huge, powerful crows drive off the smaller, defenseless birds-in other words the fat are getting fatter.
Who would scare off the weak defenseless birds to help the bullies? The GOP has for generations. For generations they have obstructed legislation that helps the 99%. Instead they give the top 1% more tax cuts or other profits. They know that stance is shameful so they hide behind any charade they think will sell.
I am glad to see that the widely respected columnist Eugene Robinson sees things the way we do. His article “GOP poor-mouthing on the minimum wage” attacks the GOP’s hypocrisy.
The article notes that the GOP latched onto the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report saying that raising the minimum wage would, as the article states “result in the loss of 500,000 jobs.”
The author notes that there are many instances that the CBO offers projections do not support the GOP’s austerity program and the GOP ignores them.
How can they cherry-pick one of their projections that agrees with them?
The author gives us grand totals as the article states “That gives us more than 1 million jobs to replace the 500,000 lost from hiking the minimum wage.”
It is obvious where this is leading. If the GOP was actually interested in helping the economy and reducing joblessness they’d support another stimulus package as President Obama proposed in his latest budget request.
The article “With 2015 budget request, Obama will call for an end to era of austerity” shows the clear difference–the Democrats stand with the 99%, unlike the GOP who stand for the fat cats only.
The article states “With the 2015 budget request, Obama will call for an end to the era of austerity that has dogged much of his presidency and to his efforts to find common ground with Republicans. Instead, the president will focus on pumping new cash into job training, early-childhood education and other programs aimed at bolstering the middle class”
The GOP doesn’t even have to do anything other than letting the legislation pass with a minimal number of House Republicans voting in favor of it.
We’ll never see the day. Now the GOP has the CBO, which the GOP generally disagrees with, giving the GOP politicians a lifeline to grasp on to-that the increase of the minimum wage will cost us jobs, and the GOP will grasp onto that for dear life.
The Democrats know the situation that exists in the US. They want to help the masses. The rich have gotten more than their share of advantages.
