The old scam
The Job Placement Companies ask for a fee to help you find a job. In the new scam they do not ask you for a fee; however, these fake job placement companies ask you for your Social Security number and other personal information, even your bank information. https://www.ScamBlasters.org
You should never give out these kinds of information. You should only give the employer your employment information. I agree it is getting hard to apply for jobs because most businesses only go through online job placement companies today. So check out the employment agency. Ask family and friends who they used.
Hackers have hacked into a friend’s email and you get an email from your friend saying they have had an accident and need money.
Call your friend to verify the email. Than notify the email carrier and make a copy of the email and take it to the Sheriff’s office.
The cons call and tell you have won a lottery and you need to wire cash to cover fees and taxes before you can claim the prize. However, Western Union has caught on to this scam. The cons now tell you to purchase a pre-paid debit card to pay for fees and taxes.
Remember, legitimate sweepstakes and lotteries never ask you to pay fees or taxes to accept a prize.
Water Company scam
Cons pose as local water employees. They tell the home owner they are there to check the water supply then tell the home owner they need water purifiers and the have they7/98653663
+ purifiers in stock. They press the home owner for instant purchase.
The Water Company employees all carry picture IDs and use only company vehicles. Therefore you should check the ID of any employee and never let any “employee” pressure you into buying anything.
