The best years of most person’s lives would be shocking to those readers who are still in high school, but yes, the best years for most adults are their high school years. I never believed in this until I graduated and now I’m really feeling the pressures of adulthood and college life. High school were the best for most, as opposed to college years, because in today’s society colleges and universities are luxuries, meaning that not everyone will be attending college after graduation.
The mistake many people make are to assume that you automatically fly off to a college after school, get your degree, then you’re a professional and have a high paying job. I once thought this way but I’m glad my eyes are wide open now. I wish I realized that while in high school so that I would take full advantage of the high school experience so I would have no regrets. Education has become my “numero uno” priority(I still remember something from high school). I have dedicated all of my time to homework, classwork, studying, midterms and all other college related things that take up a lot of your free time(if you strive to be the best). Honestly this is how I think it should be; enjoy your time in grade school then when entering tertiary level put your all. But! I do have fun with friends in college and it’s also a wonderful experience, feel free to make mistakes in college because nobody completely expects you to grow up 2 months after graduating.
In grade 10 I was not too much into the spotlight or “popularity,” this was until I changed schools by grade 11, this is where I grew up the most! People hated the new girl because she had “long hair,” “pretty hair,” spoke well, and the guys were gawking. After getting to know me I became pretty “popular”(I truly hate that term). After the rough patch I was welcomed by more females and accepted by ALMOST everyone. I became a prefect by my twelfth year(my mother couldn’t even believe that), and I left with more wisdom by being put in this environment.
I didn’t party much but it’s more than I would have time for now! I was suspended for not completing coursework, I was loved by most teachers(If they didn’t love me they hated me), that’s just a part of life. And, ultimately I found the best friends that people spend their lives searching for along with the best boyfriend, perfect match, soul mate and best friend over ALL.
I do not regret anything I did in high school, I only wish I did more with that time. Treasure high school or you’ll be left wishing you did!
