The NRA carpet-bombs voters with ads attacking Democrats and backing GOP candidates. The article “How the NRA Enables Massacres” illustrates how vile the consequences of the GOP allegiance with the NRA can be. These propaganda blitzkriegs have been the deciding factor for the GOP in many close races particularly in the red states and gun-toting districts.
The article describes the Santa Barbara massacre and about the perpetrator states “Of course, this is all too familiar: a young aggrieved male, mentally disturbed, threatening others-especially women-but still able to get his hands on a high-capacity magazine of the variety used in so many other mass murders. This doesn’t happen in any other high income country with the regularity it does here; in fact, it almost never happens in any of them.”
The article describes how Australia completely overhauled their gun laws which resulted in the eliminated of mass shootings. Why can’t we do it here? Aren’t we as good as Australia?
We can’t even talk about it here because of the GOP. The GOP stymies every effort by the Democrats, both in legislation and picking appointees, as the article states “The clearest example, of course, is the NRA’s labeling a bill sponsored by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) to allow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to once again use its considerable expertise to research gun violence prevention, “unethical.”
The GOP weapons of mass destruction in guns are, as the article states “fighting to block President Obama’s U.S. Surgeon General Nominee Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy, from being appointed. What was his crime? He has been honest about guns being a public health problem, and has made the common sense recommendation that civilians not be allowed to own military weaponry.”
Back in February 2013 we wrote an article “The GOP is Against Gun Control Legislation Supported by US Society and GOP is Affiliated with the NRA Which is Against the Police — The Democrats Are Attempting to Craft Gun Control Legislation Which Appeals to a Huge Coalition, Including the Police” which stated “Let’s deal with the false equivalency first. Democrats have always supported sensible gun control in the US.”
The article states “Okay, the GOP wants it voters to have all of the firepower they can possess. That doesn’t mean the GOP is against law and order-or does it? The article “How the NRA Went From Best Friend of the Nation’s Police to Harsh Enemy of Law Enforcement” illustrates that the GOP doesn’t support the thin blue line.
What is going to happen when President Obama and the Democrats attack the GOP about their intransigence in opposition to supporting gun control legislation?
The May 2013 article “The GOP is Putting Politics Over Policies Again in Gun Control — The GOP and Their Ally the NRA Are Losing the Politics of Gun Control so They’ll Attack Our President illustrated GOP attacks against our President and even implied that the Newtown massacre happened because of our President’s ineffectiveness. I guess the NRA and the GOP want to believe our citizenry doesn’t remember the GOP’s nickname, “The Party of No”, which they achieved because of their amazingly infamous capability to obstruct our President’s legislative efforts? The article also described the vile tactic GOP Senators who voted against background check used. They’d dodge meetings with gun victims. It is just another group of GOP politicians who have no decency.
Do you remember back in 2010 how gun fanatics carrying AK-47s would show up at town hall meetings? We described this in the article “Lunatics with Guns and a Nation of Distrust — Just What is the GOP Stirring Up?”
The GOP propagandists have the gun rights advocates and people who were willing to believe that the Affordable Care Act was “socialized medicine”, or “slavery” or any other vile attack against the US constitution imaginable, ripe for any contrived action against any of their freedoms. The GOP would manufacture this action out of misinformation-as they have done so many times previously, just to get their base riled up.
Gun rights zealots are the most easy to incite and the NRA and the GOP have been milking this pathology for generations. Because of this we’ll have more massacres such as those of Newtown and Santa Barbara to endure.
