Blisters are common lesions on the skin. They can irritate the skin and cause it to swell. Blisters are usually filled with fluid, which makes it even more annoying.
It is important to treat blisters properly. If not, it can cause them to become infected. Blisters can easily be treated at home. Here are a few ways below:
Aloe vera helps to relieve redness, pain, and swelling. It also helps keep the skin moist, which promotes healing. Aloe vera will not only moisten the area, but also help keep your skin smooth and supple. Furthermore, it will help prevent any scarring on the skin. Just slice off a piece of an aloe vera stem. The juice will flow from the plant. Apply this juice to your blister. It will promote the growth of new cells and get rid of blisters quickly. Apply aloe vera juice daily, until you see results.
If the blister is at the bottom of your foot, use foam-adhesive circular pads. They are available, as sheets, at most drug and beauty supply stores. Cut the padding in a circular shape, and place it on the skin surrounding the blister. This helps to prevent the blisters from becoming infected.
Apply An Ointment
Apply an antibiotic ointment to the blister, using a cotton ball. This helps prevent it from being infected. It also prevents the bandage or pad, from sticking to the blister. If you’re allergic to antibiotic ointment, use petroleum jelly instead. Avoid using a used container of petroleum jelly. It may contain bacteria and infect the blister.
A cold compress helps to reduce pain, itching, and swelling. It also helps to constrict your blood vessels. Apply a cold washcloth on the blister, for ten minutes. Repeat this, several times a day. It will help remove the blister from your skin.
Apply A Bandage
Apply a bandage loosely, on the blistered area. By applying it loosely, it helps to prevent the blood supply from being cut off from the area. It also allows the blister to breathe and prevents infection. Make sure the tape of the bandage doesn’t touch the blister. Also, make sure the middle part of the bandage props up. Just pucker the sides and move them closer. Change it regularly, or any time it gets wet or dirty. When removing the bandage, soak the bandaged area in cool water.
Oatmeal helps heal your blisters quickly and reduce itching. Just add two cups of oatmeal to your bath water. Soak in it, for 20 minutes. Also, for the areas that can’t be soaked, make an oatmeal paste. Then, apply it to the blister. Let it sit, for 30 minutes.
Baking soda helps to dry up the blisters. It also reduces inflammation and pain. Just add one cup of baking soda to two cups of water. Then, apply it to the blisters, and allow it to dry. Leave it on, for about an hour. Then, wash it off. Repeat this, until your blister diminishes.
