Some of us prefer to live in the city while others prefer to live in the country. If you’re lucky, you’ve had the chance to live in both, making it easier for you to determine what’s good and what’s bad about both. I think there are some good pointers to mention when it comes to living in both places, and if you’re someone who is considering leaving the city for the country or vice versa, here are some things you may find interesting.
Most of the time when people say “the city” they are usually referring to New York. But a city could be any location with lots of people and traffics and buildings. Most of us have grown up living in the city our whole lives and loving it to the point where we wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Some of the things I like about the city are the many sights and “hot spots” that makes a city fun and exciting to live in. There are plenty of restaurants, night clubs, and other locations that gives you a different experience every time you visit it. When it comes to jobs and other opportunities, it’s easy to find that in the city because there is so much around you to choose from. You won’t run out of things to do and people to do it with. Whenever you need someone, or something, they’re always close by, which is essential is you need medical attention.
What’s not so desirable about living in the city is the crowds of people everywhere you go. It can get noisy to the point where it can interfere with your life and contributes to your stress levels. There’s also a lot more traffic that makes it almost impossible to travel by car, especially during rush hour. You see this a lot in New York. The amount of pollution doesn’t help much either. All the smoke from building, people smoking, and all the cars and buses dirties up the air. The crime rate is considerably higher in the city as well, causing you to take more precautions just to make sure you’re safe.
When you want to look at the stars at night, it’s hard to see them because of all the lights from the city traffic, traffic lights, and buildings. Though exciting and exhilarating it can be, you won’t find much peace with living a city, especially a large city.
Living in the country also has its good points and bad points. Like with the city, it takes a few pointers in order to get used to living there.
With the country it’s always peaceful and quiet. If you’re suffering high stress levels, being in the country can help alleviate that. It’s easy to see the stars at night, which can set a perfect tone for a romantic night. In the country it’s easy for you to be able to own your own land, especially if you’re the type of who wants to own a range or even a small farm.
The scenery during the day and night is absolutely beautiful, and the air is always clean. There’s no pollution for you to breathe in and also no crowds or people and traffic to get caught in, hence, some of the reasons why people want to move out to the country. While crime exists everywhere, it’s considerably lower in the country, making you feel more safe.
The disadvantages with living in the country is not having enough people close by in case you get bored or something goes wrong. Sometimes medical emergencies arise, but in the country neighbors and the hospital are too far away. This could potentially be dangerous if the medical emergency happens during bad weather making it nearly impossible to get in contact with someone you need. This should be taken into consideration when or if you plan on moving to the city.
If you want a night out on the town, there are no hot spots to visit in the country, and you have to find a way to keep yourself entertained. If you’re moving or have moved from the city to the country this could be quite an adjustment if you’re use to going out during the week or weekend to have fun.
