There is nothing that excites me more than stepping out onto my front porch to see a box or bag that has clothes inside. Clothes!!! I know a lot of people are really interested in labels and fancy designers, and probably more importantly: quality. I would rather have 50 cheap shirts that won’t last the year than one designer shirt that will last the rest of my life. I get sick of clothes soon after I start wearing them. Because of this, I like to buy a lot of less expensive clothes. Here are my favorite places to shop online and stick to a budget.
Forever 21– This is mainly for the younger crowd; lots of trendy pieces. One of my favorite things to buy here is sundresses. I wear sundresses almost exclusively when the weather is warm so I need lots of them. A typical sundress here will run you about $15-$25 depending on fabric, length etc. Another one of my favorites here is the accessories. Again, not for fine jewels, but cute costume pieces some as low as $3.00!
Beware: Because of the low, low prices, returns can be a hassle. You can return anything to a local store, but for store credit only. If you want your money back, you will have to return it through the mail, which can get pricey fast. It usually costs me about $10 to ship my returns to California. If you love Forever 21 like I do, you won’t mind the store credit for a return because you will be back for more. It can also be used online.
Bonus: There are plus sizes available as well.
Old Navy– This store is great for basic and/or layering pieces . T-shirts, tank tops, camis, long sleeve tees, jeans, and hoodies galore. Most offered in a wide variety of colors and sizes. Not a lot of really interesting high fashion pieces, but every girl needs a good basic skirt or dress for everyday wear. Also available are cheap flip flops for a trip to the beach usually for under $5.00. You can also find great basic work out gear here as well. Great compression and moisture-wicking pieces too!
Bonus: They do have tall, petite and plus sizes. You can return to the store for a refund OR store credit if you prefer. Free shipping over $50.00.
Alloy– Again, mainly for the younger set, but there are gems to be found for the more mature women too. My favorite thing to buy here is jeans. They have a wide variety of washes, silhouettes, and rises. The best part is the variety of lengths offered. Everything from a 30″ inseam up to a 39″ inseam for the tall gals. I like to wear heels with my jeans so it can be a bit of an ordeal to find jeans long enough. Not here! I also buy dress pants here for the same reason. These jeans are on the high end of budget shopping, usually prices anywhere from about $25-$60, but in a world of $500 jeans I really don’t mind dropping $60 for something that I love.
Beware– There are no retail stores to return to; everything is done through the mail which can get pricey. However, once you know your size and inseam you will know what to order.
Bonus: Plus sizes are available for most, but not all pieces. If you subscribe to the catalog, there are usually coupons for 20% off included.
