Located at 1440 Harrisburg Pike (just look for the giant brown cow on the roof) Schuman’s Meats has been a west side institution since 1943. Their meat is cut fresh on the premises and never frozen. Local customers love the ribeyes, bacon and custom cut meat. The store can get a little busy, so come early. The store is open Monday – Friday from 7am – 6pm and Saturdays from 7am – 5pm. Thurn’s Specialty Meats
Thurn’s Specialty Meats is located at 530 Greenlawn Avenue just off I-71. Founded in 1886, Thurn’s specializes in wild game processing (including smoking fish) along with their custom smoked meats. Be warned, they are a cash only establishment and are only open Thursday – Friday from 8am – 6pm and Saturdays from 7am – 1pm (the remainder of their work week is spent in the back of the store preparing and smoking their meats).
The Hills Market (Downtown and Worthington)
This is not your everyday grocery store. While not as established as the previous two markets, The Hills Market (located at 95 North Grant Avenue and 7860 Olentangy River Road respectively) is quickly becoming known for their full-service butcher shop. Specializing in local Ohio products (including their all natural rotisserie chicken), The Hills steps up service by offering free delivery on orders over $150 to more than 40 zip codes in Columbus and the surrounding areas. The Worthington location is open Monday – Saturday from 8am – 10pm and Sundays from 9am – 8pm and the Downtown location is open Monday – Saturday from 8am – 10pm and Sundays from 8am – 8pm.
