No fancy shirts or shoes required. Here are some of my favorite dive bars I would like to invite you to give a try.
Hi-Brow – Located at 547 E. Foothill Blvd., Pomona, CA 91767 (909) 626-9340
A place many refer to as dark, dingy and dirty what most would consider a true dive bar seems to be a favorite of many. For those who live within walking distance, it’s a great place to go and let loose without worrying about driving home. Dedicated patrons have frequented this place for years while others are invited for their first visit. Have cheap drinks for really awesome bartenders while you listen to the jukebox, shoot pool or play darts. You will be made to feel right at home among the regulars.
Deane’s Bar & Thrill – Located at 8108 San Bernardino Rd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 (909) 608-1134
Changing the minds of many this Dive Bar offers a well drink for $3.50 where other places charge $7.00. With a intimidating outward appearance you will find that once our inside it is actually not scary at all. Offering good service by friendly servers you just might find this to be a place that you will frequent often. One of the favorite and cheap drinks many find addictive is the Fireball soaked cherries that will hit your pocketbook at $1 a piece. Your fear of what the bathrooms will be like will quickly be put at ease because here you will find them to be clean.
The Grand Inn – Located at 4538 N. Grand Ave., Covina, CA 91724 (626) 331-9852
A place where you can find your typical drink costing $5 this can make it a convenient place to hang out for those with a limited income. They offer karaoke where you will find a very energetic crowd cheering people on. Great bloody Mary’s that seem like a meal in a glass you can also enjoy great breakfast burrito’s. Not for everyone, this is a definite thumbs up for true Dive Bar lovers.
Friar Tuck’s Bar & Grill – Located at 540 e. Foothill Blvd., Pomona, CA 91767 (909) 625-7265
With live bands performing this place is a favorite for music lovers. If you are looking for glitz and glamor then pass them by. Furnished mostly in wood this is a very spacious place that offers a juke box when the the bands are not performing as well as pool tables. The price of a drink is decent and there is food offered for those who are hungry. A cross between a dive bar and lounge a definite must try. Look for the castle.
From my town to yours, happy diving!
