Pilates is an exercise technique, similar to yoga, that is growing in popularity all over the country, and with good reason. There are so many benefits to Pilates, benefits that I’ve experienced first hand.
I used to be like so many other people, those who dread going to the gym, until the day I bought a yoga mat and started doing Pilates at home, sometimes using videos from YouTube. I can say that doing these types of exercises just twenty minutes a day has really changed my life. I’ve never felt this good! The benefits below are real, and I know because I’ve been experiencing them. I strongly promote Pilates and believe that it’s one of the best exercises in the world.
We all think we’re aware of our bodies, right? I mean we are attached to them. But, the small, little muscles all through your body may seem insignificant but once you discover them, everything just seems to move better. The use of those tiny muscles that are rarely exercised using any other technique gives you an awareness of your entire body, every tendon. Every small movement is noted and the total body awareness even promotes confidence in my opinion. I’ve even noticed that I stand up much straighter and find myself doing the breathing techniques throughout the rest of my day.
I suppose that most types of exercises give you more energy, but this is the strongest boost I’ve ever felt. After starting Pilates, I find that I wake up more rested and have more energy throughout the day. I don’t experience the urge for a mid-day nap any more and that used to be an almost daily ritual of mine. Now, I don’t nap because I don’t need to and I feel excellent, lively and alert all day.
I used to experience mild back pains sometimes but after Pilates, the back pain is gone. A stronger core means a stronger body, and not only that – a healthier body. With a strong core, you’ll find that you’ll have better posture, a stronger back and of course, one of the main reason we exercise anyways – a flat stomach. The muscles in your stomach seem to get stronger quicker with Pilates than with any other exercise I’ve tried (even doing three hundred crunches a day). And, it also helps define those tiny muscles we don’t realize we have that I mentioned earlier. A defined stomach is a sexy stomach, perfect for bikini weather.
Better Control of your Entire Body
I started to notice that I have more control over my joints and entire body as a whole. My balance is better than ever. I find that I even move differently (perhaps how the body is actually intended to move, I believe). Everything becomes symmetrical and it feels amazing.
Setting goals for yourself everyday and completing them give you a sense of satisfaction. With Pilates, the satisfaction seems to come earlier than it does with other workout techniques. The feeling of being agile and toned can be very satisfying as well.
A toned Body
Summer is getting closer day by day. Pilates is a great way to get that bikini-ready body. I have found that the results produced by Pilates truly can change your entire body. As I said before, those little muscles we have, that are rarely used, will become strong and defined, and it looks great!
I am a huge supporter of Pilates because of all the benefits it provides. And, another plus about the technique is that it’s not that strenuous and can actually be fun. I’ve also heard a lot of people say they have become calmer as a result of doing Pilates. Exercise of any kind is great. It keeps us healthy and feeling good about ourselves. But, Pilates is the best technique I’ve ever found, used and loved every bit of it. I strongly recommend Pilates to anyone looking for a new exercise routine.
