Are you feeling a little self conscience about the red bumps all over your upper arms, thighs, and maybe even on your back? I totally get it. Been there, done that! This embarrassing skin condition known as “Keratosis Pilaris” is rather an annoyance really. The reason being is simply because there isn’t exactly a cure to get rid of it. The only way to keep it under control is with consistent treatment.
Over the past few years, I have constantly been pondering of ways to keep this condition under control. Just at least to the point where I can be okay with showing my skin! I have tried many different over the counter treatments; the creams and even the pills. Literally, I am telling you, these would work for about the first forty eight hours and once the clock hit that point, it would have no more effect.
My dermatologist recommended a few ideas such as changing a few habits. Among these were the same ideas you hear for just about any skin condition; exfoliate, moisturize, eat healthier, exercise, drink more water. All good suggestions, I have to agree; but even with me changing my habits and doing these things daily, it only reduced the appearance of my KP by a very small amount.
This is when I decided to do some of my own experimenting and take the more natural route. I know there are many other goods out there that are beneficial for skin. I just needed to do my research and find what would be best for my skin.
I came to find that there was quite a variety of foods that were good for you skin. There is coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, olive oil, raw honey and lemon juice among numerous other things. These were all very good moisturizers for my skin. I attempted to make various sugar scrubs by mixing some of these moisturizers as ingredients with sugar. Doing this daily, exfoliating with an all natural scrub and moisturizing with an all natural moisturizer, reduced the appearance of my KP by about 95 percent! No joke!
My skin does get use to the same treatment very quickly though. What I have learned to do is to make different sugar scrubs about every week or so. This way, my skin does not get to used to the same ingredients working as my treatment. I also switch up my moisturizers. This simple remedy has given my surprisingly, incredible results. I continue to do this daily even up to this day.
