Where I currently live, there is only one water park that everyone cherishes, the infamous Aquaventure of The Atlantis on Paradise Island Bahamas.
There is not much to do on an island except for the movies, the beach, the bowling alley and small things of that sort, which are easy-to-access places compared to having a day at Aquaventure. Because Aquaventure isn’t something you can do every day, the locals love when they get a chance at this.
The Atlantis is a pretty costly resort, and sadly Aquaventure privileges are permitted strictly to resort guests or those who purchase a day pass(also pricy). Day passes are for cruise passengers who stop over for only one day, for other tourists who aren’t guests of the hotel and also for locals who would only like to experience Aquaventure for one day but not become a hotel guest (hotel guests have rooms).
These can cost $120 or $125/adult at The Atlantis or up to $150 when purchasing them from your cruise line.
$80/child or more when purchasing from your cruise line.
Your day pass includes aquapark’s slides, pools, lazy river and The Dig.
Aquaventure water park has a “Power Tower” which holds 4 water slide rides, The Surge, The Drop, The Abyss and The Falls. You can either climb the tall staircase up to the slide levels of the Power Tower or you can take the River Rapids (lazy river). The River Rapids splits into two sections when you have reached its end. If you travel down the left path that leads you to the beginning of the rapids, if you travel down the right you will start your ride up the Power Tower in your inflatable tube as you simply relax.
With The Falls you drop 58 feet down to ground level, you will then be thrust up into the water roller coaster with many twists and turns. With The Drop you will drop into the darkness of the ride, then emerge into the open air with twists and turns.
The Abyss is also located at this level in the Power Tower, which is a single person ride which requires no tubes and is a 50 foot almost vertical drop through darkness, you will emerge to to light(eventually), then end into the enclosed Cenote, which is an underground cave for prehistoric alligators and fish.
For The Surge when you have taken your Rapid Rivers ride up into the Power Tower you can then stand up and take a few more flight of stairs until you reach the complete top of the Power Tower where you will encounter this ride. You will take a steep drop into the cavern and be pushed the twists and turns by flash floods which will return you to The Current.
Aquaventure also has a “Mayan Temple,” which also has 4 slides, the Leap of Faith, Challenger Slide, Serpent Slide and the Jungle Slide. The Jungle Slide is made for children and is very kid friendly because it has a very colorful, alluring jungle theme. With the Serpent Slide you will need a tube and this send you through darkness at intense speed until you emerge into an acrylic tunnel that travels through a real shark tank. The Challenger Slide allows you to race a friend down the slide where there will be a meter which tell you who was fastest. The Leap of Faith is a slide for thrill seekers which sends you down 60 feet a steep near vertical slide, where you are zoomed through an acrylic tunnel which is centered within the shark tank.
Splashers is a water jungle gym for toddlers, which is completely safe and fun. They will have the time of their lives, climbing their stairs, sliding down small slides, running across bridges and other small fun activities which will allow their minds to run wild.
This water park has many pools and one with automatic waves, which children find to be very exciting; They also have a large lazy river called the River Rapids. It is also just as relaxing to lay back near the pools and read a book. You can also trust the lifeguards to monitor your children for you during your leisure. There are many food facilities around, therefore you will NOT get hungry.
This water park is open from 8am until 8pm and is a very family oriented water park there is private parking for those guests with rental cars but if you are a guest of the hotel you can just walk down to the water park. Aquaventure is known for being the water park of the very well known Atlantis Resort which as serviced many famous names from Micheal Jackson to Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks and everyone in between. The Atlantis Resorts hold the worlds largest open air air aquarium, when you’re walking along the water-scape. I love this place, I always have a blast when going here!
