My husband was ecstatic to see the new Spider Man movie, as most men are. I was pretty excited as well since I have enjoyed all of the Marvel movies, including the first Spider Man movie of this series. Overall, I found this movie to be very disappointing.
The movie had a very cartoon-type feel to it. I know the movies are based off of comics, but they took the comic aspect of it a little too far. There was a scene where Spider Man was juggling to keep a bunch of little bombs off the ground and all I could picture the whole time was the comic strip. Another scene in the movie had Peter Parker swing in to talk to Gwen (his girlfriend) and he was dressed in his normal clothes and hit the wall accidentally. Spider Man would never swing on his web while not in his suit and he would never hit a wall accidentally. These little inconsistencies were throughout the entire movie, taking away from the seriousness of it. Another disappointing aspect of this movie was the villains. Marvel made the viewer feel sorry for the villains too much.
There were some positive aspects to the movie. Emma Stone is an amazing actress who makes this movie watchable. The music used in this movie was incredible. Although I don’t recommend this movie, I do recommend the sound track. Marvel movies always have a clip in the credits. If you do see this movie, the clip in the credits is not worth staying for. This clip has nothing to do with Spider Man and most of it can be seen on commercials for the new X-Men movie. Hopefully, the next Spider Man movie will be more like the first.
