Video game villains can often stand out even more than the heroes. Many times they have crazy background stories making them very intriguing characters. The following list is the best of the best when it comes to the worst of the worst in video games.
10. Vaas Montenegro
Vaas is one of the more memorable looking characters in gaming. Even non-gamers will recognize Vaas from various memes on the internet. For players of Far Cry 3 they know Vaas for his true insane nature, there aren’t many villains on the same level of crazy that Vaas is.
9. Dr. Neo Cortex
Dr. Neo Cortex is known for his giant head with a tattooed “N” from the Crash Bandicoot series. Cortex is a typical mad scientist character with a bunch of crazy gadgets and weapons. His most notable weapon, the “Evolvo-Ray” turns regular animals into human-like ones, hence where Crash Bandicoot came from.
Talbot is a suit wearing, artifact seeking killer. In Uncharted 3 he’s the main rival of Nathan Drake. He’s got the look of a slick fashionista and will do whatever is necessary to get what he wants, including some shocking moments during the game.
7. Albert Wesker
Albert Wesker is the worst kind of villain: a backstabber. Because of Wesker the T-Virus is released that makes the world of Resident Evil what it is. In the original Resident Evil he’s a friend by day and an operative for the Umbrella Corporation by night. In future installments of Resident Evil, Wesker is even stronger by turning himself into his own genetic experiment.
Debuting in Resident Evil 3, Nemesis is one of the scariest looking villains in all forms of media. When Nemesis jumps through the window, it is one of the most surprising scenes in a video game. Nemesis is the scariest looking character in the Resident Evil series by far.
5. Sweet Tooth
Sweet Tooth is a clown, who’s head is perpetually on fire, that drives an armored and weaponized ice cream truck. That is the recipe for an awesome villain, which is why he is the face of the Twisted Metal series.
Ganondorf aka Ganon, is one of Link’s primary enemies in the Zelda series. Ganon not only has the look of a bad guy but he has one of the most desired traits of a villain: an object that gives him his power. The “Triforce” gives Ganondorf an edge over other characters who are inherently tough on their own.
Bowser is the most recognizable villain in all of gaming. His giant thorned turtle shell is his most recognizable feature. In almost every Mario video game Bowser is the turtle making everyone’s lives difficult. In multiplayer games like Mario Party and Mario Kart, Bowser stands out the most among the entire cast of characters because of his size alone.
2. Revolver Ocelot
Revolver Ocelot is a constant presence in every Metal Gear Solid installment, known for his love of torture and manipulative ability. Ocelot is different in that he’s the main antagonist in all but one of the games, but his true allegiance is consistently changing. Ocelot is forever playing different sides and by the end of his life it’s quite possible the player can believe he never really was a villain at all. That kind of depth for an antagonist is unmatched by any other video game villain.
Sephiroth is the ultimate bad guy. He’s got the look with his giant sword, long trench coat, and flowing gray hair. He also has the reputation by being one of the most hated characters in gaming based on who he kills in Final Fantasy VII. Many villains have henchman do the dirty work for them, but Sephiroth personally gets his hands dirty on many occasions. He was also born as a result of a genetic experiment with alien DNA which leads him to believe that he’s a god who deserves to rule everyone. His appearance, arrogance, and strength combine to make him the baddest of the bad guys.
