Technology-themed bulletin boards work well in a computer lab or in the classroom if you want to focus on technology with your students. You can cover a variety of topics related to computer usage. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Keep your students current on staying safe while online. Include tips on the bulletin board that will keep the kids from getting into a scary situation on the Internet. You might focus on not sharing personal information or only interacting with people you know in real life. Cyberbullying is another aspect of Internet safety to focus on with the bulletin board. Post information about both not bullying online and what to do if you are bullied or see cyberbullying.
A good reference option for the bulletin board is to post different shortcuts that work on the computer. Examples are Ctrl + A to select everything in the document or Ctrl + C to copy. Cut out squares that look like computer keys. Decorate the squares to look like the keys you use for that particular shortcut. Next to the keys, write what the shortcut does.
Ways to Use Technology
Another option is to highlight uses for technology. Kids might look at computers as something for playing games. Highlight other uses for technology. That might include social connections, research, browsing the web, word processing or creating multimedia projects. You can also use the bulletin board to highlight different programs students can use.
Social Media Theme
Base the theme on one of the many social media sites online, such as Pinterest, Twitter or Facebook. The kids create something to share on the board. For example, you might make the bulletin board look like Pinterest. Each child draws something to contribute. The pictures appear in squares just like Pinterest with a brief description underneath. Or you might have the kids write something and post them to look like Twitter blurbs. You keep the technology theme while letting the kids share on the bulletin board.
