I faithfully watched this season of The Bachelor and was not impressed.
First there was Andi Dorfman. I know that Andi ‘argues’ for a living, but if she did not enjoy her time in the fantasy suite, go home without making a scene for the cameras. It makes for good television and it won her the spot of the next Bachelorette, nevertheless it made her look desperate.
Then there was Clare Crawley. Most everyone assumes that intercourse happens during the overnight dates, but do you have to tell the world you jump right into bed with a man you hardly know? As peeved off as Clare was over Juan Pablo saying he enjoyed having sex with her, I wonder what she would have done had he said she was a lousy lay? Yes, it was a crude comment, but accept the compliment and move on.
Last there was Nikki Ferrell, the Pediatric Nurse and eventual ‘winner’ who did not appear very friendly with anyone other than Juan Pablo and Andi. I know the women are there to fall in love, not make friends, but if the attitude Nikki had with the other women is any indication of how she treats most everyone else, Juan Pablo might be right by not proposing.
Do we not remember that Jason Mesnick discarded Melissa Rycroft for Molly Malaney during his season finale? I remember coming unglued. Then there was Jake Pavelka who emotionally abused his bride to be. Sound like true love to you yet?
So what if Juan Pablo is not ready to confess his love and become engaged to a women he hardly knows outside of television? I for one was very happy that Juan Pablo stuck to his beliefs and refused to say he loved Nikki. I do, like many others, do not expect them to have a lasting relationship in the first place.
However, I am a going to let American in on a little secret-I am a Juan Pablo Galavis fan. Sure, I am a sucker for accents and the innocence of language barriers, but I am a fan simply because he was honest, with himself as well as the women. Is that not what all single women ask for; a man to be honest with them? Now he is being vilified because he did not propose to a woman that he has only ‘dated’ over the course of a few months all the while going out with twenty-six other women during that time. Come on American, give the man a break!
