Raspberries are a very tasty little fruit. They can be eaten fresh as a snack or put into desserts and drinks like smoothies. Do you know that there are the benefits to consuming them? Did you know that only a ½ cup of raspberries can give you the RDA(required daily allowance) of Vitamin C.
Raspberries spoil quickly but they however can be preserved by freezing them. If you freeze them they can be good for up to a year. This way you can enjoy them when ever you want even if they are out of season. One of the reasons why raspberries spoil so quickly is because of their hollow center. Raspberries contain cancer fighting chemicals which do not get destroyed through cooking so even if you don’t eat them fresh you can still benefit from what they have to offer if you eat them in a jam or pie.
Raspberries have folate, iron and potassium. They are high in fiber which helps digestion. They however like many other fruits contain salicylate which is an ingredient used to make aspirin so if you have a sensitivity to it then you might want to be careful when eating raspberries.
