Before and during Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, the Tampa Bay area will be celebrating with events in Tampa and St. Petersburg. There are four different Earth Day celebrations. Come on out for an environmental festival at Tampa’s #1 ranked zoo by Parents Magazine.
There’s also an all-day event, on the weekend before Earth Day, at downtown St. Pete’s waterfront. You can take in a film sponsored by the Suncoast Sierra Club on Tuesday night, April 22nd on Earth Day. For baseball fans the Trop and the Rays will honor Earth Day. EcoFest 2014 – Tampa
Lowry Park Bandshell & Riverfront
Home of the Manatee Hospital is Lowry Park’s 5th Annual EcoFest celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 12th. This community event organized by Learning Gate Community School, the City of Tampa, and the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability.
This green celebration includes the following activities: live music, workshops and demonstrations, informational booths featuring green living products and services, local artists, green businesses, environmental organizations, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic farms and gardens with fresh local produce.

Earth Day St. Petersburg- St. Petersburg
South Straub Park
In this first annual event, the weekend before Earth Day on Saturday April 19th, Earth Day St. Petersburg is the first official Earth Day festival for the city of St. Petersburg. The Downtown Partnership is presenting this event. It’s an organization that focuses on businesses that support green initiatives. St. Petersburg is the first city in the state to receive the Green Building Coalition’s Green City designation.
It’s for St. Petersburg’s recognition in energy conservation, recycling, water conservation, fuel efficiency, landscaping and preservation of open spaces, and other environmental programs. Beautiful South Straub Park on the waterfront is the location for this festival. Attendees will get an opportunity to meet companies that are leading members of the green movement. You can hear speakers talk about important topics affecting our earth.

Earth Day Movie Night “Home” – St. Petersburg
You’re cordially invited to a screening, on Tuesday, April 22nd – Earth Day, of the 2009 documentary titled “Home” by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. “Home” is shot entirely from an aerial point of view, taking over 18 months to complete. St. Petersburg’s long-standing and award-winning Studio @620 is a haven for the visual and performing arts. The Suncoast Sierra Club and Gulf Restoration Network are the sponsors for Earth Day Movie Night.

Earth Day with the Tampa Bay Rays – St. Petersburg
Take me out to the ball park for an Earth Day game between the Rays and the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, April 22nd.
